Answered by Wojtek Sokolowski)
Q: How do you feel about supporting Rhapsody?
A:
For Operus this was an opportunity we have been waiting for, We
couldn't have asked for a better mass audience to perform for than the
ones in Mexico. We are humbled yet very excited to continue our journey
for the Mexican audiences and can't wait to continue doing what we love
in front of bigger crowds
Q: How do you feel about social media and its influence over the music business?
A:
For Operus social media helped us gain momentum and reach a much
broader audience through sharing and tagging the bands name. Doing these
bigger international shows would be much harder for new bands like us
to achieve without it.
Q: What defines the perfect song for your ears?
A:
The perfect song or song structure depends on the current state of mind
Bands that vary the moods and paces throughout their albums are much
quicker to end up in the play list.
Q: Name a band you would love to tour with?
A: Nightwish for sure
Q: Any subject matter you won't write about?
A:
We try to stay away from religion and politics and keep to subject
matters which majority of people could relate to on one level or another
and find meaning in it.
Q: Do you feel that musicians or artists should weigh in on politics?
A:
As mentioned in the previous question, Operus stays away from it but we
do see how musicians can have a very strong voice that could create
positive change.
Q: What has been the most challenging aspect of being a musician?
A:
The biggest challenge of being a musician is the struggle of
maintaining a livable life style financially from strictly music alone,
the constant struggle of wondering whether the efforts being put in
versus the rewards lead many to call it quits early on in their careers.
Q: What got you first involved in music?
A:
The draw of getting involved in music came from the exciting feeling of
being able to create something that drew emotion and seeing the
opportunity of being able to be a part of something more with other
like minded individuals creating the sound we enjoyed.
Q: Any hobbies of passions outside of music?
A:
This is a hard one for us. Most of our hobbies and other passions
revolve around music, whether it's collecting records and instruments to
getting our hands on the latest gear. Perhaps reading, movies, stand-up
comedy and travel could be included into the things we enjoy.
Q: Strangest thing that ever happened at a gig?
A:
there has been many strange occurrences for individual members at
different gigs, however speaking strictly about Operus I think it's
appropriate to mention a most recent event from this tour where our
guitarist Rob Holden fell off the stage, now that may not be that
unusual or strange but the fact that he took with him his wireless unit,
the one piece of equipment one is supposed to be free from made this
definitely an odd occurrence.
Q: Anything you want to say to the fans?
A:
We have been absolutely blown away by the out pour of support for Operus
on this tour, the reactions of fans have surpassed our wildest
expectations, and we couldn't be more grateful. A million thank yous to
everyone who came out and to everyone who we had the pleasure of
meeting. We cannot wait to come back and perform for you again.
