JUDAS PRIESTESS/MELIA SHOW REVIEW 8/10/2018

The Greasy Luck Brewpub and its adjoining rock venue,"the Vault" have hosted a number of notable rock and heavy rock acts lately. The venue is large enough to handle these acts yet intimate enough to offer ample viewing of the stage from anyplace in the room. My experiences there have been nothing but positive from the menu to the bartenders this place is a top notch premier venue.

On Friday, August 10th, the all female Judas Priest tribute band, JUDAS PRIESTESS entered the vault and tore the roof off. The opening act, MELIA, features a  flashy guitarist/singer, with a quick hand and a raspy, soulful voice.

The elements of pop and alternative rock were there, as well as some punk and hard rock influences. it all blended together with a tight band behind her.

MELIA rips on her guitar but at times pulls back and allows her band to shine. In particular was the incredibly tight backing musicians, Angelo Marasco on bass, Jimmy Whitaker on rhythm guitar, and the show stopping percussionist, Erik Wheater. Overall MELIA put on a fantastic show and she clearly has the stage presence to rock any venue.

Up next was the mighty JUDAS PRIESTESS. These women hit that stage running and unleashed a torrent of molten priest classics and new material. Relentless and poised to strike they head banged their way through the set  with a fiery rapid fire of hits. Undeniable is their passion as not only musicians but as true fans of JUDAS PRIEST. Between sets the powerhouse vocalist herself, Militia explained that she has always been a fan of JUDAS PRIEST and the band has even received the blessing of the metal god himself, Rob Halford.

JUDAS PRIESTESS distance themselves from other copy cat tributes as they clearly play the songs not true to the notes but true to the feel. The clothing and even the equipment is their own look and their own style. They just happened to paying tribute to JUDAS PRIEST. The band is clearly having as much fun performing as we are listening. The twin guitar attack of Josette and Rena Sands will melt you into submission.;While the rapid fire bass licks of Gyda Gash sync up with the blazing hellfire of drummer, Hillary Blaze.
