ODEUM DEUS 2 song review

ODEUM DEUS lays it all on the table with two songs, "Black Coffee", and "Nothing". Both songs are available on Spotify. So as a rule we don't cover death metal here at the shop, but in this case we decided to indulge ourselves. Besides, these guys hail from Sweden so it has to be good.
First listen goes to the song "Black Coffee". I anticipated something else, so it wasn't too bad to tolerate. Typical death metal here except it borders on an almost melodic death metal feel. In the end even though I rarely drink black coffee, I find myself hitting replay on this one.
"Nothing" is consistent with the style, although the guitar lead was impressive. Again, almost melodic for a death metal track. I suppose that is what the term "New Swedish Death Metal" refers to. Kind of like new Nordic cuisine.
If your a fan of death metal then this band is one to watch. They seem to have something elevated amongst the other death metal bands I have heard. Again, hailing from Sweden certainly helps. Their appears to be something in the water there, that creates great musicianship, and ODEUM DEUS is one of them.
