CRY OF THE WOLF INTERVIEW WITH MIDNIGHT PROPHECY

CRY OF THE WOLF INTERVIEW WITH MIDNIGHT PROPHECY         Who came up with the name? That would be Pete. After a long time struggling with names we started thinking about themes, darkness is a general theme in metal and prophecies or tales of occultism and foresight often make for the best stories, so that's where it comes from. One day Pete came out with it and we were all "Yes!" In agreement. D escribe your writing process. Does everyone contribute? Our process for writing varies most of the time, a good 90% of our songs are musically cowritten between members but more recently there's been more ideas coming out of Chris with the odd bit here and there from someone else. It mostly depends on who has the time to put their ideas to paper music wise. Lyrically everything is written by Craig, with perhaps a line here and there from someone else if Craig likes it.  A re there any subjects you won’t write about? We'd like

CRY OF THE WOLF MAGAZINE INTERVIEW with CRAIG WELLS AND JAMES THORLEY OF ATLAS

Image
CRY OF THE WOLF MAGAZINE INTERVIEW with CRAIG WELLS AND JAMES THORLEY OF ATLAS 1. How did the band start? James: The band came together during the late summer of 2016. I had put together about 5 keyboard demos that would form the basis of the EP that we are currently recording now. My initial idea was to write a handful of melodic rock songs that took influence from some of my favourite bands from the 80s/90s, such as Toto, Journey, Mr Big and even some progressive acts like Genesis. I later brought on Howie Little (guitars) and Christian Redfearn (bass) to help refine my demos into a fully fleshed out band project, which then resulted in the recruitment of Craig Wells on vocals. 2. Who came up with the name? James: I had come up with name near the start of the demoing process. I was writing the music under the working title of 'Atlas project' and the name 'Atlas' kind of stuck from that. I prefer shorter syllable names that are easy t

CRY OF THE WOLF MAGAZINE INTERVIEW WITH JEN JANET OF BLIND REVISION

CRY OF THE WOLF MAGAZINE INTERVIEW WITH JEN JANET OF BLIND REVISION Tell us a little about the start of the band. Three of our band members met at college and started jamming. We didn’t sound anything like we do now, but we decided to enter a battle of the bands competition in Boston. It was technically our first show playing together, so we weren’t expecting much. But then we won first place, and we decided to keep going and write songs together. Over time we had a few lineup changes, and we met our other two members through mutual friends. But we’ve been playing together now with this current lineup for almost two years and we are very happy with what we’ve accomplished thus far. We are not only a band, but we are good friends as well. We recently went on tour together and it was a great feeling to be able to do that with people you love hanging out with. who writes the songs? It’s a collaborative effort. Usually one of the guitarists will think of

The Very Metal Diary Of Cleo Howard: a CRY OF THE WOLF MAGAZINE book review

Image
The Very Metal Diary Of Cleo Howard By sarah tipper SO when the book arrived and I dove into it, I was impressed by the listing of so many good bands and songs. The diary itself is a great read as we plow through the life of a teenage metal head in England. I learned also that "sixth form" is some sort of  grade or school. For years the song "Sixth form girls"by the band SAXON , eluded me. Now I know at least partly what it means. Overall this is a great book. A cleverly written, metal filled Journey. The metal world needs more authors like Sarah to convey what the genre has done for all of us. Metal music is the medicine to get us through hard times and life's curve balls.  Our main character is dealing with a lot of adult issues, the death of her father, life in her home town, the day to day of a students life, a blossoming sexual awareness. All of this set to a heavy metal soundtrack. She is at once shunned for her metal "looks" and accepte

CRY OF THE WOLF INTERVIEW with John Adams of LOVE-N-WAR

Image
CRY OF THE WOLF INTERVIEW with John Adams of LOVE-N-WAR Energy. This band is over loaded with it. Talking to John was a breath of fresh air. His excitement and passion was clearly evident as he talked about his music and his love for music in general. You can tell he eats and breathes rock and roll. What is going on with Love-N-War? Well we are working on a new album. About 2/3 of the way done. 3/4 of the rhythm tracks and solos are done.  Recording in Arcadia Falls, Missouri. Our first record, "UP THE ANNIE" was done there. It's a long haul but I think it is worth it. Everything is sounding fantastic so far. This will be a better record. Heavier, more melodic. Should come out by end of August. Planning on a CD release party probably with..and just between you and me...Night Ranger. The new one is called "EDGE OF THE WORLD". Who writes the songs? I do. I write everything, and most of the lyrics too. I get an idea and just hit the 8 track recorder.I

CRY OF THE WOLF INTERVIEW WITH AL RAVAGE of RAVAGE

Image
CRY OF THE WOLF INTERVIEW WITH AL RAVAGE of RAVAGE Tell us what is new? well we have a new album out now how long did it take to write the album? It was actually already recorded. we originally recorded it 2003. released in 2005. Production wasn't that good. did not get  wide release, only in Europe. was kind of ignored so we always wanted to put it out again but we didn't have the master tracks. so we put together a new studio, and figured the best way to test it out would be to record the whole album over again. so we did. Artwork was done by the goosebumps book artist. How did that come about? We had used the MEGADETH artist ed, for the other albums. I wanted to use him again but my brother who is the guitarist in the band, said we didn't want to become a MEGADETH album cover band. It was cool last time, but we wanted something different. So we contacted the artist who did the goosebumps covers so he did. nice guy. we were surprised he would work with us
